Mission & Vision
Cornerstone Jamaica’s mission is to connect people and resources to create sustainable programs that improve health and education in Jamaican communities.
Cornerstone Jamaica envisions a Jamaica where every person has access to quality healthcare and education and where communities thrive through sustainable development. As a leading non-profit organization, we are committed to creating lasting change that benefits Jamaicans today and for future generations. We strive to be a catalyst for positive change, inspiring others to join us in our mission to build a brighter future for Jamaica.
Dei values
Cornerstone Jamaica’s board of directors, partners, and volunteers are committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work. We believe that every child, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, or socioeconomic status, deserves access to quality education and health care. We recognize that Jamaica is a diverse country with a rich history and culture, and we value and respect the diversity of the children and families we serve. We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming environment where all children and families feel seen, heard, and valued.
We are committed to promoting equity in access to eye care services and resources. We work to identify and address systemic barriers that may prevent some children from accessing the care they need. We believe that all children deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential, and we work to remove obstacles that may prevent them from doing so. Additionally, we recognize that diversity, equity, and inclusion are ongoing journeys and are committed to continuous learning and growth. We listen to the voices and experiences of our staff, volunteers, and the communities we serve, and we use their feedback to improve our programs and services. Overall, Cornerstone Jamaica is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and we believe that by working together, we can create a brighter and healthier future for Jamaican youth.
History
In 2011, a group of individuals came together out of a mutual love for Jamaica and a desire to create lasting change for its citizens. By coordinating with nonprofit organizations, businesses, and friends worldwide, Cornerstone Jamaica supplied clothing, computers, and school supplies to Jamaican communities in need—and that was only the beginning.
Today, we have grown our impact through various initiatives that run concurrently and fulfill our mission of improving health and education in Jamaican communities.
