Briana McIntosh, MPH, CPH

In 2013, Briana began to seek ways to bridge her professional and personal passions to do public health work in Jamaica. However, it wasnt until 2018, where she found a home with Cornerstone Jamaica. Since the first phone call, she was right at home and since then has been an integral part of our team. From 2019-2021, she served as our Director of Development. In that role, she secured grants to support our “See Better. Learn Better” initiative, as well as provided support to our leadership across all areas of the organization such as fundraising, communications and project management. From day one, she has been wearing many hats within the organization that matches her expertise and ability to work under any circumstances.

In addition to her work with Cornerstone Jamaica, Briana has a versatile research career both in Jamaica and in the United States. She is the Director of Research Operations at the Case Western Reserve School of Medicine. In that role,  she provides center-wide leadership in the development and coordination of health promotion & disease prevention research and training initiatives. She also leads strategic planning, expansion of domestic and international studies and partnerships. Additionally, she manages the Jamaica Eye Study, which is a novel research project around understanding clinical and public health elements of the burden of Glaucoma on the island.

Briana is a double alumna of the University of Pittsburgh as she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies and a Masters of Public Health in behavioral and community health sciences, specializing in health equity and global health. Briana’s distinct background of education, engagement, and research has prepared her to be a leader that prioritizes community-engaged work, pushes boundaries, and finds innovative ways to relieve the burdens of social determinants of health locally, nationally, and abroad.

She is eager to build our organization into a true cornerstone of service, development, and collaboration towards the health and education of communities in Western Jamaica.
