Novia is a country girl from Westmoreland. She came from humble beginnings but had parents who impressed on her the importance of a good education. Novia started her educational journey at Coke’s View Primary School, then went on to Manning’s School. From there, she pursued a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree at The University of Technology, Jamaica and a Master of Science in General Management at Walden University. She also has a certificate in Diabetic Retinopathy Grading from the University of Melbourne in Australia.
Novia has always had a passion for giving back. During her high school years, she started volunteering with in eye clinics. She fell in love with the ophthalmic field then. Even though she pursued a career as a pharmacist, her love for eye care never left her. She went on to get additional training as a refractionist and ophthalmic assistant and embarked on a fulfilling career at Professional Eye Care Jamaica.
While Novia loves the clinical aspect of patient care, she is also a great leader. She has served as Head Girl at Manning’s School, Resident Assistant at The University of Technology Jamaica, and she was even awarded the Top Female Student Leader of the Year at the university. More recently, she did a one year stint as Senior Pharmacist at The Heart Foundation of Jamaica, where she revolutionized their inventory control system and steadily improved the profitability of the pharmacy. With all these experiences, Novia is poised to make a great impact at Cornerstone Jamaica.
