Cybersafe Yuhself! highlights the importance of empowering Jamaican children, their parents and their teachers to better protect themselves online.

NOTICE: Under our Cornerstone Connex programme, CyberSafe Yuhself! is using Cybersecurity Awareness Month to launch an online survey for any Jamaican students in Grades 4-13, who have permission from their parents, to participate. This online survey, which is completely secure and anonymous, is being distributed to School Principals across the island. The collected data will be analyzed and used by Cornerstone Jamaica’s Development Director and Cyber Safety Director to better execute a programme geared towards children’s needs, shedding light on Cyber Safety vulnerabilities, while offering guidance surrounding security measures to limit the susceptibility of threats towards them and their interactions. If we all do our part, by raising community awareness and opening ourselves up to be educated in Cyber Safety, our interconnected world will be safer and more resilient for everyone.

Why Cybersafety?

More than ever, connected devices have been woven into society as an integral part of how our children learn and communicate. Cornerstone Jamaica believes that Cyber Safety for Jamaican children has become paramount. With the growing access of the internet for online learning, there has come an increase in children’s social communications through platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, YouTube, TikTok and Gaming. Data collected from your children’s devices, profiles and online activities can detail highly specific information, which can be exploited by bad actors, namely stalkers, bullies, blackmailers and hackers, for their personal gain.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! Each week we are creating resources for you to share!
